The biggest mistakes a leader can make

Let me share some biggest mistakes that you can make as a leader, so you have to be aware of, but not afraid, you have only to try to get lessons from each mistake you have made, make or will make in the future. When you do that, they will not be mistakes but lessons and experiences. You have to know that mistakes are very important, because without mistakes we cannot learn and develop our self.
Here is the biggest mistakes a leader can make:

-  Putting self-interest ahead of the best interest of the institution or organisation. Bill George

- Betraying trust, for the leaders the trust is the most powerful weapon they can rely on, so if they lose it by betraying their follower’s trust. Evan Wittenberg

- For Ellen Langer the biggest mistakes a leader can make is being certain, because things are constantly changing, and unpredictable, when we confuse the stability of our mind sets with the stability of underlying phenomenon we act as if we know, when you think you know you pay any attention, so that’s what is going take a leader down.

 - Arrogance – personal arrogance, hubris, and confusing the size or success of the enterprise, with the individual’s personae. I think that creates greater social distance and power distance, which is de-motivating most organizations and people. Secondly, I think it increases the chance of making big mistakes. Carle Slone

- Acting to fast and executing before thinking through the issue. Jonathan Doochin

- Not being authentic, consistent and predictable and being all about selfScott Snook

- Not being self-reflective, bulldoze forward through life making mistakes not really looking back on the past, not learning as they go and not being self-aware of how they are affecting the people around them. Daisy Wademan Dowling

- Andrew Pettigrew, Professor at University of Oxford, said: “I think probably not living up to their values is the biggest mistake a leader can make. Leaders who espouse values but don’t deliver them are very rapidly found out and very rapidly turned over. So, I think that’s probably the biggest crime a leader can commit. And I think this one aspect is the reason why there is so much leader churn today.”

- Trying to do everything yourself: as leader you have to delegate tasks to your subordinate, so that helps you to think to other things, projects actions.

- The last biggest mistake you could ever make as leader is being too afraid to make one of mistakes mentioned above: you have to be aware of theses mistakes but do not be afraid to make them, because that will block you.

For Omar Tirichine, the biggest mistakes you can do as leader is ignoring the need s of your subordinate. As a leader, you have to satisfy the needs of your subordinate as possible as you can for keeping them with you. If you do not give them what they need, they will leave you for the first opportunity that offers to them.
